Lethbridge Volunteer Opportunities
Training and orientation:
- Participate in the Homebound Volunteer Orientation (which covers volunteer expectations, health and safety procedures, and documentation management.)
- Work with the Volunteer Manager to review the Volunteer Handbook.
Fuel is NOT covered.
We are looking for volunteers who have the skills and experience to assist us in helping adults improve their reading, math, computer and/or writing skills.
After 6 hours of training, you will be ready to begin helping others.
You can choose one-on-one tutoring or teach to a small class on a day or time that works for you.
We have prepared lessons you will use with your student(s) and Read On Staff will support you.
This weekly fundraiser is critical to the operation of the LSCO centre.
Volunteers are provided with a free lunch when they volunteer.
If you are a people-person and would like to get to know your LSCO community, this is an excellent volunteer role.
Onsite training provided.
This position requires direct interaction with our clients and the distribution of their monthly hampers, and twice weekly food supplement.
The Mindful Munchies lunch program provides lunches for over 2 000 students in Lethbridge every week.
Sandwiches are then sent off to the various schools in Lethbridge via their own driver.
The opportunity in this program is mainly helping our drivers. Being our driver’s helper for loading and unloading.
Provide support to a newcomer to Canada with foreign-earned credentials.
Individual or family match with newcomers to Canada with a focus on language and literacy (intake completed online).
Help create a more inclusive city by volunteering as a community connector with individuals or families who are new to Canada.
Volunteers receive information and orientation regarding working with newcomers to Canada, as well as ongoing training opportunities and support from the Community Connections Volunteer Programs team.
Individuals or Family match with newcomers to Canada with a focus on stay-at-home caregivers and young children (intake completed online).
Help create a welcoming and inclusive city by volunteering as a community connector with individuals or families who are new to Canada.
Volunteers are matched with a newcomer individual or family. Match meetings can be at home or in the community.
Volunteers are supported by a Community Connections Settlement Practitioner and will have access to resources to share with their matches.
